Careful full renovations
New kitchens that respect a mid-century house.
Detached homes · Buckingham Heights, Burnaby
Kitchen remodels, cabinets, countertops and backsplash for Buckingham Heights homes, planned clearly and built by one team.
Buckingham Heights is a quiet, leafy neighbourhood beside Deer Lake, known for large lots and mature trees.
Homes here are mostly mid-century detached houses, many lovingly kept and some never renovated. Kitchens tend to have solid original cabinetry, tired counters and dated lighting.
Many houses in Buckingham Heights were built between the 1940s and the 1980s, and their kitchens show it: closed off from the dining room, short on outlets and lit by a single fixture. These are the most rewarding kitchens to renovate, because a better layout changes how the whole main floor works.
In older homes we plan the permits and safety checks before demolition. The City of Burnaby treats taking down or building walls as an alteration that needs a permit, plumbing and electrical changes need trade permits, and WorkSafeBC requires a qualified person to check for hazardous materials such as asbestos before renovation work starts.
Services
Local know-how
New kitchens that respect a mid-century house.
Keeping solid original boxes and giving them a new face.
Wider openings to the dining room rather than full removal.
New kitchen flooring blended into existing hardwood where possible.
Many Buckingham Heights houses have been looked after for decades, and owners want a new kitchen that respects that. We often keep what still works, like solid original cabinetry or a well-placed window, and focus the budget on counters, lighting, storage and a better connection to the dining room. The aim is a kitchen that looks like it belongs in the house.

FAQ
It depends on the scope. Replacing cabinets, fixtures and flooring doesn’t need a City of Burnaby permit, but taking down walls does, and plumbing, gas or electrical changes in a house need trade permits.
If walls, ceilings or flooring will be disturbed, WorkSafeBC requires a qualified person to check for hazardous materials before the work starts. Homes built before about 1990 are the most likely to have them.
Usually. Load-bearing walls need an engineered beam and a permit, and any pipes or ducts inside the wall are rerouted. We check before we design.
